ADOPT YOUR BEST FRIEND

Thank you for your interest in adopting through Zion’s Mission Animal Rescue. On this page, you will find all the information you need to be aware of our adoption process. Please be aware that we are a small rescue and will review and adoption survey within 1-2 weeks. Only approved adopters are eligible to schedule a meet-and-greet with one of our dogs.

Our goal is to always ensure happiness and a successful new life for all involved, with the dogs as our main priority.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

In order to adopt from Zion’s Mission Animal Rescue, you must be a minimum of 18 years old.

You must live within two hours driving distance from Queens, NY in order to adopt from our rescue. Zion’s Mission generally adopts to residents of New York City, Long Island, NY and New Jersey.

Zion’s Mission Animal Rescue does not adopt to any individual who has been convicted of crimes for animal abuse, domestic violence, or individuals living in a temporary home or shelter.

APPLICATION PROCESS

STEP 1: Please complete the adoption survey. Once received, we will review your survey within 1-2 weeks. We do our best to respond to each email, inquiry and survey, but we cannot guarantee a response to everything due to our small volunteer staff.

STEP 2: Our approval process contains conversations with the two references you provide on your application. Please be sure that all of these contacts are expecting our call to avoid any delays in processing your application. You are welcome to follow up with us on our contact page if you are concerned about your application status.

STEP 3: Last but not least, we will conduct a home visit and schedule any necessary meets with the adoptable dog upon approval. We will not adopt a dog to anyone who denies the home visit.

Why was my application denied?

There are many reasons we may deny your survey. These reasons include but are not limited to: negative feedback from your references, renter restrictions, failed home visit, lack of understanding of needs of rescue dogs, young age, your location, requesting a type of dog we do not have in our rescue at the time of applying, or if your name is found on a “do not adopt” list.
