Success Stories

Molly

We (Sasha's Mission and Zion's) are ecstatic to announce Molly has been adopted by her foster hero turned forever hero Tyler!

Molly, was seized by the NYPD in Broad Channel. The situation was so bad in the house that it was condemned by the city. When we first rescued Molly we promised to restore her faith in humans and return the sparkle to her eye. As you can see, we did both. She is now living her best life with her favorite human and cat siblings.

We are so grateful to our friends at @hbanimalclinic and her first foster mom Lisa who helped rehabilitate her. Thank you to our angel donors, NYPD’s finest, and the courageous people, who made this rescue a reality, including city officials. There is no “I” in rescue. Together, we help them.

Sisters

The love between sisters is forever. And Sydney and Sofie are no exception, which is why we refused to separate them. We are ecstatic to announce theses sweet siblings have found their happily ever after together with their amazing parents, Gina and Mike.

When we first met these two they had been surrendered to the shelter. Carried in by two volunteers, all the while so petrified, shaking, and defecating on themselves and the volunteer.

Fast forward to when we brought them to one of our superstar trainers, Jeff Coltenback who slowly but surely rehabilitated them and taught them to trust, love, and understand all humans weren’t evil. Thank you to everyone who helped show these sisters life can be beautiful.

Harley

Sweet Harley is officially home! J Steel is truly her happily ever after and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This precious girl was an owner surrender and what started off as a sad story has become a happy one. Harley enjoys long walks with her dad, playing, cuddling, and being silly. This is definitely a union meant to be. Thank you to everyone who helped make this fairytale ending a reality.

Starla

Starla has officially found her forever home with dynamite dad Don, and now calls Manhattan her hometown. We are so excited for our favorite star. She was an emergency medical rescue from Animal Care Centers of NYC where she had arrived with a cantaloupe tumor hanging off her stomach. Miraculously, it turned out not be cancerous and it's been all uphill from there for our girl.

We patiently waited for her human hero to appear and one day it happened. Don contacted us and the rest is history. He has put in hard work to acclimate her to city life and thanks to all his efforts Starla is the toast of the town. She has so many friends she says hello to on her outings both human and canine. Other than Don her favorite human is dad's best friend Karen. She couldn't be more loved and we are so proud of Starla and thankful to everyone who helped made her rescue a reality.

Barbara

Hip hip hooray! 15 year old emergency rescue Miss B, aka Barbara, has found her forever home with human parents Stephani, Michael and her new canine siblings Vivenne and Jax. They couldn't love her more and in fact when I handed Miss B to Stephani she cried tears of joy.

None of this would have been possible without one of our superstar fosters Michele. Michele and her husband fostered Miss B for 7 months and gave her her first taste of what real love is.

When we first took in Barbara she had to have her eyes removed and most of her teeth due to ongoing human neglect. She was in awful shape but thanks to the top notch medical team at Howard Beach Animal Clinic all that is in the past. Thank you to everyone who donates, fosters, adopts and supports us.

Voyager

Huge thanks to our friends at Itty Bitty City Kitties for not only adopting one of Melania’s pups but for helping the entire family, including mama Melania! The whole crew does more for cats of Rockaway than any other cat rescues ever. And now they have a new pup, Voyager, who will continue with them on their journey. Thank you Kim (Sasha’s Mission and Zion’s Mission).

Kono

With our whole hearts we thank Kathleen and her husband for adopting sweet puppy Kono. They are absolutely amazing and this dog is so blessed. Thank you Kim (Sasha’s Mission and Zion’s Mission).

Karma

We couldn’t love you all more! Thank you for everything and for bringing Karma into your family. Kim (Sasha’s Mission) and I might move in. Or run away in your beautiful RV! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Dahlia

Fairytales can come true, it can happen to you! And that’s just what happened with our sweet puppy Dahlia. Together, Sasha’s and Zion’s Mission, along with the help from my amazing friend Gina, made all her dreams come true!

Thank you Eric and Jackie and your amazing family for giving this sweet gal the most amazing home. Thank you Howard Beach Animal Clinic for all your help and everyone who supports our lifesaving efforts. Together, we save them.

Teddy

Today is Teddy's day. Our treasured tripawd has officially been adopted. He not only has two humans, Faith and Jake, who love him beyond measure, but two furry siblings, Addy and Indy, who make his life complete.

His previous owners reported he had been hit by a car and let him languish for 5 days, as they didn’t want to spend money on treatment. So he sat in agony until the 5th day when he tried to chew his own leg off. When they finally brought him in to our vet they had tinfoil wrapped around his half eaten and bloody leg. Not wanting to be bothered anymore, they surrendered him. We took him in as an emergency rescue and thanks to an angel donor he was able to have the lifesaving surgery needed.

Teddy's troubles are all in the past, and today he is showered in love thanks to his forever family. With our whole hearts we thank them, our incredible rescue partners Howard Beach Animal Clinic, Teddy’s foster hero Kathy, and everyone who helps us save lives and make rescues like Teddy’s possible. We can’t do it without you.

Bruno

And there is no place like home. I reunited Bruno San Martino last night with his loving owner. Bruno had escaped his yard while a neighbor was having work done at their house and a gate was left open.

While this mighty meatball was under our care we worked with our friends at Howard Beach Animal Clinic to get him a full check up including blood work, a bath, and other routine care. Bruno San Martino isn’t neutered, and after speaking with his owner about the many benefits of fixing our furry friends we are happy to report he agreed to let us neuter him soon, too.

In rescue we always want to leave an animal in a better situation than we found them in and we are certainly doing that for this precious baby. Thank you to everyone who shared our post when we found him yesterday morning.

Lewis

Left for dead. Found by Animal Care Centers of NYC. Fostered and rehabbed by Vibeke. Medical expenses covered by Angel donors. Adopted by Bonny and her incredibly loving cat, Fang. Lewis is officially home.

Thank you to everyone who made this rescue a reality. Lewis is a senior cat who was suffering in plain sight like so many other cats on the streets. Today, all his dreams became true and he has found his way home. There is no “I” in rescue. Thank you everyone.

Chewi

Her history was a mystery when we pulled her as an emergency medical case from ACC with gargantuan ulcerated mammary tumors. But thanks to her foster hero mom Kathy, who opened her heart and home to Chewi, she would never suffer again, and only know the gentle touch of loving hands. We are ecstatic to announce Chewi has been officially adopted by Kathy.

Kathy is an extremely special person. She helps us with senior dog after senior dog, and doesn’t shy away from hospice cases. She took in Tiny Teddy to foster who had nowhere to go after he was recently surrendered to us, just one day after her beloved Annie passed, because that is just who she is. We are so incredibly grateful. There are so many cruel people in this world and it’s humans like Kathy who give us hope. Thank you Kathy.

Butter

Don't let go. Someone is out there. And while life may be cruel at times, it is also beautiful. On February 9th Butter was abandoned in the Rockaway dog park with a note attached to him. It was freezing that night but he made it till morning when a good samaritan found him and called us for help. Butter didn't know it yet, but luck was on his side, he had just begun his journey home.

It was clear quickly that baby Butter had been failed by humans his entire life.  He was so traumatized by his ordeal that he was initially unable to be handled much. So in an effort to keep him comfortable we walked him the 2.5 miles home from the dog park instead of driving him. We quickly learned he was like an 8 week old puppy in an 8 month old body. He screamed in the crate, was not house-trained, and thought hands and leashes were toys to play bite. So, we went to work. And while we made great strides in the weeks prior to him going to his first foster, and enlisted the help of one of our trusted trainers to onboard him there, he was returned.

Then we received an application from Randi and Jeff. They had recently lost their beloved dog, Cash to cancer. He also suffered from a condition called megaesophagus, which affected his ability to swallow food normally, and required Cash to eat in a special chair.  We knew during our first conversation that this was Butter's chance. That they were truly dedicated, would put in the work, and we were 100 percent right. With the guidance and intense daily training program Butter participated in with our friends Good Dog Pet Training, Butter has blossomed into a well adjusted boy, no longer play bites, and is treasured beyond measure.

Thank you to everyone who helped make all Butter's dreams come true. Especially his guardian angel, Cash. Randi told me she was crying one day because she missed her Cash so much. She said she pulled out her laptop to search for adoptable dogs just to see and Butter popped up. Thank you Cash, you can rest easy now. They will be ok.

Nena and Fiona

Hooray, Nena and Fiona have officially been adopted together. Their new dads couldn't be more in love with these sweet sisters and it's easy to understand why once you meet them.

As their superstar foster mom Michele says, "Nena is the sassy daredevil one. Always wants to be with you and snuggle. She loves to be next Fiona if she can't be on her humans lap. She loves to give hugs and rub her face against yours. When Nena wasn't getting attention she will let you know she doesn't appreciate it by barking at you. Fiona is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. She loves to be held but when Nena comes over she will step away to let her sister have all the loving." I will add that no one enjoys laying in a nice fluffy dog bed more than Fiona. And absolutely no other dog I have ever met enjoys being under the covers more than Nena.

As expected, these two have had a seamless transition into their new forever home. I knew as soon as I spoke to them upon receiving their application that this was who they were meant to be with. I am happy to say, Nena and Fiona agree. Upon meeting Jason and Michael they gave them both kisses and cuddles and were immediately at ease in their home.

When I was leaving they came up to me and put their little front paws up on my knees and softly barked. As if to say thank you to me, their foster heroes, and the 20+ people at Howard Beach Animal Clinic who stepped in and did right by them so they didn't end up in the shelter. Together, we helped make all their dreams come true. Happy life sweet sisters. You are loved by so many.

Nyla

Happily ever after couldn’t happen to a more deserving soul. We are ecstatic to announce Nyla has been officially adopted.

Nyla was a medical emergency case we were called to help with by our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC. She had pneumonia, hydrometra, and what they thought was a cancerous mass on her bladder. And she had to leave the shelter immediately due to her medical needs.

So, as I have done many times before I texted just her picture to Kathy. And as she has done many times before she texted back “who is this?” with a lot of cute emojis. Kathy, her boyfriend Jared, and sister Irene — who between them have adopted twice from us — and the fostering family immediately said “yes” to helping Nyla.

Her first stop however was for top notch medical care and plenty of TLC with our friends at Howard Beach Animal Clinic. She was there for almost two weeks before she was able to leave due to all her medical issues and surgeries. And as usual the dedicated team went above and beyond to meet her every need.

Nyla then went to foster where Kathy loved her like their own. They socialized her, made sure she got all her meds while recovering, and threw her a pajama party when we found out she was cancer free. They also took the absolute best pictures and videos of Nyla.

It was because of those pictures and videos that her forever humans, James and his family, fell in love. They had lost one of their beloved dogs a few months prior to cancer. And they were all broken hearted, including their other dog Wally. We are happy to say this was a perfect match. And while they pretended to foster Nyla initially, they failed very quickly.

Happy life sweet girl. You are loved by so many. With our whole hearts we thank everyone who helped make her rescue a reality. Including everyone who donated towards her medical and care costs. Without each and every one of you her life could not have been saved. Thank you.

Betty

Nothing helps a broken heart like having a dog give you theirs. The saying “who rescued who” resonates with so many for a reason, because it’s true. We are so ecstatic for Betty, now known as Bella. She has been officially adopted by an amazing family who needs her as much as she them.

It was love at first sight for MaryAnn, Dane, and Chris. They reached out shortly after her emergency rescue. The family has suffered their own heartbreaking losses recently and the arrival of Betty Bella has filled their hearts with joy.

Our gal has 6 more weeks of recovery from her orthopedic surgery to fix her leg which was broken straight through in three spots. She is a bundle of energy which has made her recovery challenging at times but regular checkups confirm none of her plates or screws have moved which great news.

With our whole hearts we thank everyone who made her rescue possible. From the police who rushed her to the ER, to our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC who called us to help. To her angel donors who made her lifesaving surgery possible, Howard Beach Animal Clinic, and her foster family (Acki, Maria & Dina) who stepped up to help her so we could welcome her to rescue. So many people came together to make her happily ever a reality.

Bowie

Bowie, now known as Oscar, has officially been adopted by his incredibly loving moms and furry sister Lucy. He is loved, cherished, and celebrated every day. A better home he could not find. He was an emergency rescue from Animal Care Centers of NYC when he was a wee bottle feeding baby who was found abandoned. As soon as Josie and Vicki saw him they knew he was meant to be with them.

This is the second time they have adopted from us. Heartbreakingly, their first adopted kitten Bailey, formerly Crow, had a severe heart murmur and passed away suddenly the night before his echocardiogram. No doubt he had a hand in this union.

Lola

“Little by little, day by day, what’s meant to be will find it’s way”

We are so ecstatic for sweet Lola. She has found her happily ever after with our friend Jen, who is also a trainer. Jen recently lost two of her beloved senior dogs and a rabbit. Sometimes, when you are so connected, their loss can be crippling. I truly believe when this happens they send us someone super special to help us carry on. Lola was definitely sent to Jen by her Libby and Baby Boi to help heal her heart. Lola couldn’t be loved more. Thank you to everyone who helped make her rescue a reality and helped her find her way home.

Rockie

“My rescue mom brought me to me real mom. I am home”  ~ Rockie fka Domino

Tonight we had the pleasure of reuniting Rockie with his incredibly loving family. When we arrived everyone was outside to greet their beloved furry family member. When we entered their house Rockie ran right into the center of the living room and start rolling around on his back, his tail wagging nonstop. He was the happiest boy.

Rockie got out a gate left open by a delivery person in the families yard and went missing right before Valentine’s Day, which is when he entered ACC. We were called to help him as our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC know we have a soft spot for senior medical cases.

A few days after rescue we were put in touch with Brittany, Rockie’s mom. She and her family had been looking for him in their neighborhood and posting flyers on community social media pages. From the moment we spoke we knew we were going to reunite them. Rockie was needed at home, not only by Brittany, who rescued him late at night 12 years ago, but by her mom and her special needs son who is also extremely bonded to him.

We will always act in the best interest of the animal. In this case we 100% believe that Rockie is right where he should be. We are also committed to leaving the animals in better situations than when they came to us, and for Rockie, this meant a full work up at our vet which included an echocardiogram. We are thrilled to report Rockie now has the proper meds he needs for his heart and we will continue to care for Rockie medically.

Jack

We are thrilled to announce that Jack, now known as Davey, has officially been adopted by his forever family Gina, Jackie, and Macey. We are so grateful for their dedication to Davey and ensuring onboarding to their family was successful through positive reinforcement training.

Davey made his way to us when we teamed up with our friends at Sarama Animal Rescue to help a litter of orphaned puppies found on the streets of Puerto Rico. Davey went to foster immediately after arriving in the states with our superstar foster extraordinaire Kathy, who also ended up introducing all of us. Jackie and Gina had been looking for another furry friend to complete their family for some time but nothing had worked out. Now we know why. Happy life sweet boy. We love you forever.

Billy

Operation "make them love me" was a total success. Billy's foster parents, Samantha and Dave, are officially foster failures and have officially adopted our boy. We couldn't be more thrilled and Billy couldn't be more loved. It was love at first purr and just like that he has his happily ever after.

We rescued Billy after getting a call from a good samaritan who had been feeding him in her yard that he showed up injured and wasn't doing well. It took a day to catch him but when we did we were so grateful. He was in critical condition and was hospitalized for a few weeks with our amazing friends at Howard Beach Vet . Thankfully, he was able to come home with us and finished recovering. Now Billy is living the life he was meant to and we are so happy. Thank you to everyone who made his rescue possible.

Kiki

We might never stop smiling. Kiki aka Logan has been adopted by Irene, sister to Kathy, who adopted Ham the big grey pittie from us. Kathy and Jared opened their hearts and home to foster Kiki shortly after her rescue. And luck was certainly on Kiki’s side because she soon met her forever mom to be when Irene came over to visit one day.

With our whole hearts we thank everyone at Howard Beach Veterinarian Services who showered Kiki with love and nursed her back to health until she was strong enough to leave the hospital. And to our friends at BACC for all they did for her prior to us pulling her. Poor Kiki was found infested with maggots in her fur and in awful shape. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this rescue a reality.

Zoey and Maxie

With joy in our hearts and smiles for days, we are thrilled to announce that Zoey and Maxie have been adopted together. It was just two weeks ago when we were contacted by their former owner's family for help. Their former elderly mom was gravely ill in the hospital and due to circumstances beyond the families control they needed our help.

It was just two day later that we picked the dogs up from family members and welcomed them to rescue. When we showed up we were informed that their mom had just passed away the night before. From the moment we met these two we loved them. They are just so special and radiate love and light. We promised Maxie and Zoey and their departed mom Carmen on the ride to our vet that we would find the best possible home for them, and that we did.

From the moment we spoke with their now dad Al, who is retired NYPD, we knew this union was meant to be. During our first conversation he told us about how he and his fiancé Teresa rescued their other little babies from a puppy mill and from South Korea.

Al then went on to tell us a story of one of his recently departed rescue dogs who was a Maltese. There was an abandoned warehouse where a puppy mill had been run out of. The people who ran it had abandoned over 100 dogs inside in tiny wire crates. Out of the hundred dogs only 23 were alive when authorities showed up. Al adopted the Maltese that was in the worst condition. He had no use of his back legs and was incontinent. Al told us that when they shaved all the matted fur off the poor dog he was nothing but skin and bones. He took him home and proceeded to give him the best year of his life. When he told us the story you could hear in his voice how much he cared for him and how much he missed him. We just couldn't ask for a better home for Maxie and Zoey.

Zoey and Maxie have seamlessly transitioned into their new home. They are enjoying playtime with their new furry siblings, running around the yard, and cuddling with Al and Teresa. Thank you to everyone at our incredibly loving vet Howard Beach Veterinarian Services and each of you who helped make this rescue possible.

Sparkles

We are over the moon with excitement. Sparkles, now known as Cleo has officially been adopted! To make matters even better, Cleo's forever mom Ranisha, is the daughter of our foster extraordinaire Damaris and sister to Erin who without hesitation opened their heart and home to pregnant Cleo immediately after rescue.

We received a call from a neighborhood feeder in Rockaway who was caring for outside cats at Hammel Houses. They were so worried about her as she was about to give birth and she was so friendly that any number of horrifying things could have happened to her living on the streets. Thankfully, they brought her to our house immediately and the rest is history. Her babies were born on May15th in the lap of luxury thanks to this incredibly beautiful family. Young Cleo is now spayed and will never be a teen mom ever again.

Lulu

Lulu, now known as Nala has found her forever home and we couldn’t be more pleased. Her superstar mom, Amanda, is head over heels in love with her, and truth be told makes the funniest Instagram stories starring yup, you guessed it, Nala. Once again, we are so grateful to our friend Madison who connected us to Nala’s mom.

We rescued Nala while she was still in her mama’s belly. Mama cat Sparkles was living outside one of the housing projects near us in Rockaway and was being cared for by Good Samaritan who contacted us for help shortly before she was ready to give birth.

A very special thank you to our friends and foster heroes Damaris and Erin, who without hesitation took in Sparkles and helped her birth and raise all the babies. We are all so excited for her happily ever after.

Cinder

Cinder has found her perfect forever home with her human heroes Alyssa and Uno. Her mom cried tears of joy upon her arrival and Cinder is so incredibly loved by both human parents. Cinder enjoys playing, cuddling, and purring the day away. With our whole hearts we thank our friend Madison who connected us to Cinder’s parents. There is no I in rescue and it takes a team of people who come together to make happy tales like this come true. Thank you to everyone who made this rescue a reality.

Cootie

We are so happy. Sweet Cootie has found her forever home with her human heroes Liz and Nick. She also has a furry feline brother named Nick Jr. who she loves to play the day away with We rescued Cootie from a hoarding situation in our neighborhood and we are so grateful she is now living her best life. Thank you to everyone who helped make her rescue a reality.

Cupcake

We are ecstatic, our Cupcake aka Cups, aka the Cups of the Cake has officially been adopted by her incredibly special foster mom turned forever mom Emily. From the moment we read Emily's incredibly detailed application, and then her follow up email further introducing herself we knew she was the one. And while we painstakingly reviewed all of the almost 800 inquiries and applications that we received for Cups we always came back to Emily. And we are glad we did.

Emily didn't just see Cupcake as an opportunity to adopt a French Bulldog, who aren't often available in rescue, hence the number of applications we received. She saw Cupcake as an individual dog and took her needs and the potential challenges we mentioned in her posting into consideration when thoughtfully thinking about welcoming her into her home.

She signed on knowing that while we were going to be providing in home training, thanks to our incredibly talented Brooklyn trainer Vibs (Sit Hits The Fan Dog Training), Cupcake had guarding issues and separation anxiety, and that she would need to be 100% dedicated to correcting these behaviors. Emily promised she would and she has certainly kept that promise and then some. It is because of this dedication and hard work that Cupcake is the well adjusted dog she is today 4 months later.

Cups and Emily have so many adventures together as you can see here. Cups enjoys city life and visiting with her doggie friends around town. She no longer guards Emily and she can now be alone for 40 whole minutes before becoming stressed. Emily has worked hard to get to 40 minutes and we have no doubt this will continue to get better. Thank you Emily for loving Cupcake so much. We are so happy she finally found her way home

" Tis the gift to be simple, tis the gift to be free, Tis the gift to come down where I ought to be; And when we find ourselves in the place just right, Twill be in the valley of love and delight."

Jimmy

Nothing short of a fairytale in New York City for tripawd Tofu, formerly known as Jimmy.
Yup, our three legged baby has been officially adopted! And the even better news is that his forever human Sara is one of our best friends and all around favorite humans ever. We will get to see him often and we just couldn’t be more thrilled. Tofu now has one furry brother named Schnitzel and one furry sister named Isis. Sara has been a longtime rescuer of special needs cats and Tofu couldn’t have a better mom.

Thank you Sara for opening up your heart and home to Tofutti without hesitation. From the streets to the lap of luxury.

ADOPTEDRuthie.jpg

Ruthie

It is with absolute joy we announce that our emergency rescue Miki, now known as Ruthie, named in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been adopted! On New Year's Eve an hour before MACC was closing this deathly ill little gal was surrendered with parvo to the shelter. We rushed to pick her up and checked her into our emergency partner vet BluePearl Pet Hospital for immediate life-saving treatment. A few days later we were able to move her to our loving vet Howard Beach Animal Clinic where they tended to her every need until she recovered.

In the meantime, we had reached out to two other amazing vets we knew through two of our best friends to see if they might be interested in her. We knew they had been trying to adopt a rescue dog and weren't having any luck. In fact, it was becoming a joke that the head of internal medicine at one of the most respected animal hospitals and his wife who owns her own very well respected practice in the city couldn't get a dog. Needless to say, it was love at first sight when they saw Ruthie's picture. And by the end of our first conversation we all understood why they hadn't had success adopting any other dog through any other rescue. It was because Ruthie was meant to be with them.

We are so incredibly thankful to everyone who made this rescue a reality including Ruthie's earth angels who made her treatment possible. And of course the loving shelter staff at Animal Care & Control who we gladly partner with to save deserving dogs like Ruthie. Time and again we see people bad mouthing, bullying, and talking poorly about the shelter workers and volunteers. I can tell you first hand that some of the most amazing and dedicated people I have met in rescue work at NYACC and BACC. Thank you to you all.

ADOPTEDHanna.jpg

Hanna

We are thrilled. Our funniest senior lady Hanna has been adopted by her foster turned forever mom Brittney. Hanna was found running the streets all alone in Queens. She was so scared at the shelter and the minute we saw her face we knew we were meant to help her. Hanna was in dire need of a dental and had 7 teeth extracted along with a non-cancerous tumor removed. Our longtime friend Erin, who works at our vet, introduced us to Hanna's now mom and we are so grateful. Today, Hanna's days consist of entertaining her mom, helping her mom work as you can see here, eating her favorite fruit and cuddling. Happy life sweet Hanna.

ADOPTEDZoe.jpg

Zoe

Happy hearts and happy faces make for very happy places. We are ecstatic to announce sweet Zoe, lovingly nicknamed Petunia, has been adopted. This was a union truly meant to be. We knew it from our first very conversation with Vicki. And the feeling was later solidified by Zoe herself. I watched Zoe's reaction when the two first laid eyes on each other and the rest as they say is history. It's not everyone who will open their hearts and home to a deaf dog. In fact, for reasons I don't understand, deaf is one of the top two things potential adopters and fosters check off as being something they don't want to deal with on our applications. In reality, it isn't that big of a deal. And being deaf doesn't slow down Zoe at all. I actually think it makes the incredibly special bond between Vicki and Zoe that much stronger, because they are just that much more in tune with each other.

We rescued Zoe from Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) where she was brought in as a stray. When we saw her picture and her uncanny resemblance to out beloved Zion we knew we were meant o be part of her journey. Precious Zoe had been dumped on the streets of Brooklyn after giving birth to puppies. Alone and unwanted our friends at BACC took care of her until we came. She had to have emergency pyometra surgery and we nursed her back to health until she finally found her way home to Vicki.

ADOPTEDCoco.jpg

Coco

We are so happy for Coco, our emergency senior chi rescue from BACC. She was rushed to our vet on urgent transport from the shelter after we agreed to help her. She remained hospitalized for nearly a week being tended to and undergoing surgery for her cherry eye, severe dental disease, and spay. Initially, we thought she had an obstruction but thankfully that wasn't the case. When she arrived at our vet she was difficult and hard to handle but immediately following her dental she was super sweet and affectionate. Just goes to show you how important dental care is, and how much pain she must have been in.

Next Coco was welcomed into the home of one of our longtime friends Kathy's house, where she recovered from all her procedures while receiving a ton of tender love and care. And then, just how it was supposed to happen, Coco's happily ever after home presented itself. Here she is with her 5 furry siblings and her mom and dad. We first met Michele and her amazing family helping another dog and when she reached out about Coco we knew it was meant to be. Happy life sweet Coco, who we also lovingly refer to as Pork Chop.

ADOPTEDCally.jpg

Cally

We are so happy for Cally the kitty who was an emergency medical rescue from ACC. She was in horrible physical shape weighing in at only 6 pounds and needed to be initially hospitalized due to a myriad of issues. Cally continued to recover at our house until she was well enough to go to her foster turned forever family. The Gagarin family couldn’t love Cally more and we are ecstatic to announce they have adopted her.

ADOPTEDMurray.jpg

Murray

Hip hip hooray! Murray has been adopted by his foster now turned forever mom Gaby. It was love at first sight for these two, and it's Gaby's unconditional love for Murray which made it possible for her to work through all of his health and anxiety issues. It takes a very special person to save a senior and just how special Gaby is isn't lost on us.

We first met Murray when we were pulling another dog from Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter, and while we were there they asked if we could help him too. He was in pain and in need of medical care due to rotting teeth. As soon as we met him we said yes and the rest is history.

With our whole hearts we thank everyone who made his rescue possible including his medical team at Howard Beach Veterinarian Services, his trainer Vibeke Sit Hits The Fan Dog Training, and everyone who donated to make him well. Together, we helped Murray finally find his way home.

ADOPTEDAerith.jpeg

Aerith

Sweet Aerith has found her happily ever after. We are thrilled to announce she has been adopted by an incredibly loving family. We rescued this tiny treasure after she was found dehydrated and all alone, just days old by a good samaritan who brought her to the shelter. We took her home and bottle fed her until she was ready to be weaned and old enough to leave us. We are so honored to have had a part in saving this beautiful life.

ADOPTEDTilly.jpeg

Tilly

Tilly from the rock has officially been adopted! 9 year old Tilly rescued from Far Rockaway has finally found her happily ever after and we are ecstatic.

After enduring years of suffering in her former neglectful home she is finally living her best life with her two loving moms and her canine brother.

We rescued Tilly after receiving a an urgent call for help. Her former owners were about to throw her out in the streets like trash if we didn’t come and get her. Ultimately, we learned that she was in excruciating pain due to an old fracture that hadn’t healed correctly.

There is no I in rescue, and it took everyone on Team Tilly to complete this rescue. There are many unsung heroes who help us with each rescue including our foster heroes, incredibly generous earth angels who make life saving medical treatments possible, and highly skilled and loving doctors. Thank you to all of you.

ADOPTEDStevieNicks.jpeg

Stevie Nicks

Hip hip hooray. Stevie Nicks has found her forever home. From the streets of Rockaway to living her best life with her almost twin brother Ozzy. The two are inseparable. In fact, every night when the family goes to bed, Ozzy stays downstairs and calls to Stevie to come play with him. She recently started mimicking his sounds to her little toy bird. How absolutely precious is that. With our whole hearts we thank Christina and Vin for making all her dreams come true.

ADOPTEDBabyBlue.jpeg

Baby Blue

Baby Blue has been adopted! We are ecstatic that our little gal has found her happily ever after with friends Lauren and Paul. She had a rough start in life but all that changed on November 7th. We rescued her from the shelter after she was found outside alone and in terrible physical condition including a broken leg. She was hospitalized for two weeks before we could even take her home and once home with us she underwent treatment for ringworm for weeks which finally cleared up a few days prior to bringing her to her forever home. Blue has been soaking up the love with her new feline sibling and mom and dad. Happy life sweet baby.

ADOPTEDPrincess.jpg

Princess

We have finally stopped jumping up and down long enough to announce Princess Penny has been officially adopted by her foster hero, turned forever hero mom, Francis! This union was truly meant to be and Princess is treasured beyond measure by her mom. In fact, Francis has told me time and again that Princess is her biggest joy and the light of her life. It's moments like this that renew our faith in humanity and make all the struggles we face in rescue worth it.

We first met Princess outside of BACC when she was being surrendered in August. We were there picking up a litter of neonatal kittens. With COVID guidelines in full effect we were outside the fence waiting when she walked up. Having a soft spot for seniors we immediately walked over. The woman surrendering Princess told us how her mom, Princess's owner for the past 13 years, passed away and that she couldn't keep her.

Before I knew it our kittens were being handed to us and I watched over my shoulder as Princess was led to the outside intake area. I could hear the woman tell the shelter worker that she had brought Princess’s favorite water dish and my heart broke for her. No sooner had we gotten in the car with the kittens Matt turned to me and said "She is cute, I feel so bad for her." To which I said, "We will check on her. I wonder if anyone will come".

Over the next few days we were in regular contact with the shelter. And every conversation went the same as the day before. They asked if we could take her and we asked if there was anyone else expressing any interest to which they repeatedly said no. We even went to meet Princess again hoping if we took the perfect pictures or videos we could find a foster. But every potential foster we found fell through because Princess isn't dog friendly.

One morning Matt found me crying and he knew why without me saying anything. He knew I wanted more than anything for us to help Princess and he knew she really needed us. Before I could wipe the tears from my cheeks I heard him say "Let's pull her. We will go to home depot now and we will make one of our rooms into two". And so for the next few days we worked non stop to prepare a special room just for Princess.

There is a saying “the rescue doesn’t end with the pull”. And that couldn’t be more true. Princess was a mess when we got her and she had extremely bad separation anxiety. Not to mention she was in heat and bleeding. So much so that when we took her to our vet they performed immediate surgery to remove her uterus and 13 huge bladder stones from her bladder. Her costly lifesaving surgeries and later her training were made possible by incredibly generous angel donors who are really the unsung heroes time and again. We are so incredibly thankful to everyone who supports us.

And a very special thank you to our trusted NJ trainer and friend Laura Miller who initially welcomed Princess into her home for a board and train to work on her separation anxiety. And to Vibeke, our Brooklyn trainer who runs Sit Stay for continuing Princess's training regarding her separation anxiety and all her on boarding.

ADOPTEDBubbles.jpg

Bubbles

And just like that, the life Bubbles dreamed of while she sat in her concrete kennel for 3 months at the shelter came true. We are ecstatic to announce our beautiful girl has been adopted. It was love at first sight for foster mom, turned forever mom, Fabiola. And it was clear Bubbles felt the same way. Our precious girl walked into her new house and immediately over to Fabiola. She covered her with kisses before finding her overstuffed bed which she promptly sprawled out in. The two have enjoyed every single second together since then. They enjoy walking on Rockaway Beach, looking out over the ocean from their terrace, and of course snuggling.

We fell in love with Bubbles the minute we saw her picture and we knew we were meant to help her. We had initially met Fabiola because she was initially interested in another dogs, a dog who was already in the process of being adopted. On a whim, I reached out to Fabiola the very next day after telling her the other dog wasn't available and longer and asked her if she might be interested in helping Bubbles. All of you in rescue know the flip rarely works. But Bubbles has made me a believer because the flip got her her forever home.

With our whole hearts we thank our dear friends and everyone who helped make this rescue a reality. Without your shares, cares, donations and offers to foster none of these happy tales would be possible. We would also like to give a special thank you to all our volunteer friends at Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter. It is because of their dedication, love and hard work that Bubbles was in such a good place mentally after being in the shelter environment for so long. Shelter volunteers don't get enough credit. It is one of the hardest jobs to have for so many reasons and we thank you all for all you do. Happy life sweet Bubbles. We all are so honored to have been part of your journey home.

ADOPTEDMilo.jpg

Milo

Our hearts are happy tonight. It’s official. 13 year old Miley, now known as Milo, has been adopted by his foster mom.

We rescued this senior from Rockaway after his former family contacted us to surrender him. At the time we were heartbroken for him, losing the only family he has ever known. But when I pulled up to the house that morning and they were waiting outside on the street with him, and all his belongings in a plastic bag, my feelings began to change. It was at that exact moment that I knew this was the beginning of the best days of his life. And I was right.

From Rockaway to Jersey this brave boy rode shotgun and sat quietly next to me. He listened as I told him all about his foster hero mom and how much we all loved him already. I told him he was safe and we were here to help him. I swear he was listening because upon arrival Milo eagerly exited my car and when Dawn swung open her front door he casually strolled in. It was as if he knew her and his new home already. He walked around like he owned the place, all the while his cute tail wagging back and forth.

Dawn is a very special kind of foster hero. She not only opened her heart and home to a senior, but she welcomed him with open arms despite his quirks. While Milo is extremely loving he can also sometimes be cranky and growl and need his space, yet none of this deterred Dawn. The two have formed quite a bond over the last few weeks and they are so happy together. Happy life sweet boy. We are so honored to have been part of your journey.

ADOPTEDMurphy.jpg

Murphy

Hip hip hooray! Murphy has officially been adopted by his foster mom turned forever mom Tatiana. This stunning boy is one in a million and he certainly hit the jackpot. Murphy and Tatiana share an incredibly special bond. They enjoy time in the park together, long walks, and of course cuddling. Murphy is a star pupil in training classes and an all around joy. We are so thankful to our loving vet who reached out to us for help placing Murphy when he needed a home. Happy life sweet boy. We love you so much.

ADOPTEDRalph.jpg

Ralph

From the streets of Rockaway to the lap of luxury with Carly & John. We are thrilled to announce Ralph has officially been adopted! This orange beauty has personality plus and keeps his mom and dad laughing. Carly opened her heart and home to Ralph initially as a foster and we are so grateful. Fostering saved Ralph’s life and ultimately gave him his happily ever after. Happy life sweet boy.

ADOPTEDMack.jpg

Mack

“I'll tell the world, I'll sing a song. It's a better place since you came along. Your touch is sunlight through the trees. Your kisses are the ocean breeze. Everything's alright when you're with me. And I hold my favorite thing. I hold the love that you bring. It's a better place since you came along."

Mack & Meggie's bond was instantaneous and strong from the moment she picked him up to begin fostering him just days after we rescued him from a horribly neglectful and abusive situation in Far Rockaway. Without hesitation, Meggie opened her heart and home to our then tiniest warrior who had already been dealt a crummy hand. Baby Mack had suffered chemical burns in his eyes causing partial blindness and we soon found out he had autoimmune issues. No matter what Mack has faced, he has faced it with Meggie by his side. His rescue has been a never-ending effort over the past year for all of us who love Mack.

Mack has been with Meggie and Joe since the beginning of their relationship and and the recent birth of their son. He has been a constant source of joy and comfort to human sister Niamh, and baby Joe's best friend since he arrived only weeks ago. Meggie used to tell me how Mack would curl up with her baby bump throughout her pregnancy. And she told me she knew he and the baby were going to be inseparable. Meggie has told me of so many special moments and adventures she has shared with Mack over the past 11 months. But most of all, she would tell me how much she loved him.

Since Mack has been placed on hospice care, and we don't know exactly how much time he has left here with us, Meggie and Joe wanted to make his adoption official, though we all know he was hers from the moment they met. It is with absolute joy that we announce Mack is officially adopted. Please hold a loving thought for Mack and those who love him the most. And Zion, thank you for sending us to rescue him. He has touched all our lives with joy and light.

ADOPTEDRosie.jpg

Rosie

Hooray! Rosie has officially been adopted by her foster dad Frankie who just couldn’t love her more. Rosie has lived with her now forever dad, canine brother Ollie, and the families pet pigeon since we rescued her at 7 weeks old. She is treasured beyond measure and no doubt will continue to live her best life.

Rosie is one of the lucky ones out of the litter. When we were first approached by the former owners for help with the puppies we told them that we would only take all of the babies as long as they agreed to let us spay the mom Bella and the father Thor, as they wanted to keep them. The people agreed.

We immediately had the dad neutered but had to wait to spay the mom until after she was done nursing the pups and they were old enough to be taken away. Well, the night before we were to pick up all 8 pups the people start jerking us around about pick up times and ultimately we were told the guy “gave away” five of them. So when we arrived at their house there were only three puppies to pick up, Rosie being one of them. We kept our anger to ourselves because we still had to play nice and make sure the mom dog would never be bred again and get her spayed, which we did.

We will never know what kind of lives those five dogs that they sold out from under us are living, but since their former owner was involved, we fear it can’t be good. What we do know is that Rosie and her two sisters were the lucky ones. Thank you Frankie for giving our girl her happily ever after. And thank you to everyone who helped make her rescue a reality.

ADOPTEDBitsy.jpg

Bitsy

Hooray! Bitsy our baby boy has been adopted! He is one of our 4 precious kittens we rescued from BACC at just a week old. He has found the most amazing family and we are so excited for him.

ADOPTEDItsy.jpg

Itsy

Itsy is adopted! We are so excited for our tiniest of girls. Itsy was the smallest of our four bottle feeding babies we rescued from BACC at one week old. Itsy’s family fell in love with her at first sight and the rest is history. Itsy’s family adores her beyond measure and we are beyond thrilled for her.

ADOPTEDRonnie.jpg

Ronnie

We are so ecstatic for little Ronnie who found the most amazing parents she could ever dream of. When we met them for a meet and greet a few weeks ago we knew this family was meant to be. Since finalizing the pre-adoption we have been in close contact sharing every new milestone such as Ronnie eating her first meal on her own, the first time she drank water, or played with a toy. Ronnie’s parents are so excited to have this perfect kitten who is such a joy to care for. With our whole hearts we thank them and everyone who helped us rescue her and her 3 siblings from BACC when they were just days old.

ADOPTEDSmidgen.jpg

Smidgen

Our Smidgen has been adopted and we couldn’t be more thrilled for him. His incredibly special family is so in love with him. Within a few minutes of bringing our tiny boy with a huge personality to meet them we knew it was a match.

The family that adopted Smidgen lives in Forest Hills. When we were naming the kittens, who we rescued from BACC at just a week old, I chose the name Smidgen in honor of the first cat I ever had. I have a picture of myself with my mom and my Smidgen the day I came home from the hospital to our house which was also in Forest Hills. When I told my mom we both agreed it was meant to be. Happy life sweet Smidgen. We love you so much.

ADOPTEDHolly.jpg

Holly

It’s official. Holly, formerly known as Cookie has been adopted by her foster family. We are so thankful to Doreen and her amazing family for giving Holly her happily ever after.

We rescued Holly from Far a Rockaway when she was first surrendered to us when her former owner thought she had parvo. When the parvo test came back negative they took her back thinking they could responsibly take care of her. Just a few days later she was surrendered to us for good when they realized she was too much for them. It was then she went into her foster turned forever home. Thank you to everyone who helped make her rescue a reality. Happy life sweet Holly!

ADOPTEDLouie.jpg

Louie

This family is simply meant to be and that is all there is to it. Big Louie, formerly known as Pharo, has found his forever home with his foster heroes and we are absolutely ecstatic.

We rescued him from Far Rockaway after receiving a call that he had been left by his former owner at their mother’s house who couldn’t take care of him. Her mom has just suffered a stroke and Big Louie was just too much for her. Without hesitation Emily and Howie opened their hearts and home to this once desperate boy making his emergency rescue possible.

It was clear very early on that Emily and Louie were very connected and shared a special bond. In fact, I don’t know who fell in love with the other first. Howie, was soon to follow and the rest as they say is history. Happy life sweet boy. We are honored to have been part of your journey.

ADOPTEDMia.jpg

Mia

Hip hip hooray! Mia, now known as Winnie has officially been adopted by her loving foster family. We are so thrilled and thankful to everyone who made her rescue and lifesaving surgery a reality. Against all odds she has found her happily ever after.

This precious pup was an emergency rescue after she swallowed a fish hook with shrimp on it. When her former owners wanted to euthanize her our friends BluePearl Veterinary Partners called is to help. Miraculously, the fish hook was removed by Dr. Roufail Howard Beach Animal Clinic without any complications and she has made a full recovery. Happy life sweet Winnie. We all love you so much.

Bamboo.jpeg

Bamboo

If we could throw a parade through Rockaway and have everyone who helped make this moment a reality we would. We are ecstatic to announce Bamboo has been adopted. Our incredibly special boy waited over two years for his forever humans to find him. 820 days to be exact. And all we can say is the wait was worth it.

Jadel and Cody were introduced to us by friends in early March. They had never fostered before and while they had dogs growing up this would be the first dog they would help together. When Jadel saw a picture of Boo she said she knew he was the one they wanted to foster. And with that they were off to our trusted trainer Laura Miller's house to meet him. They instantly fell in love and in no time they were all headed back to Rockaway. With the COVID crisis in full effect we met them at their home and while safely social distancing began Bamboo's on-boarding. We remained cautiously optimistic as Boo had been let down before by fosters, but it became clear early on Jadel and Cody were different. They proved themselves dedicated to working through all of Boo's insecurities while soothing his anxieties.

When June came around and their committed foster time was up with Boo we moved him to a new situation. The night we picked him up I cried. In fact, both Boo's trainers Jeff Coltenback and Laura Miller had been messaging all along how happy he seemed with Jadel and Cody and how wonderful it was he was with them. Boo had a lot of difficulty settling in the new foster situation and undoubtedly missed his family. He couldn't understand that while they never wanted him to leave, their landlord had only approved him staying for a few months. But in an amazing turn of events the landlord not only approved his return but approved his adoption and signed a new lease which now included Boo. When I met with her she said Boo was meant for Jadel and Cody and she could see when he left how sad they were. What an amazing landlord to say the least.

Bamboo aka Boo aka Boo Boo aka Boobs was rescued from a squat house in Rockaway where he was often chained to an oven. It took us a long time of talking to the former owner to convince him to surrender Boo so he could have a better life. We are so thankful he did and we are so grateful to everyone who helped us keep him safe along the way to his happily ever after.

ADOPTEDStar.jpg

Star

Our favorite kind of fosters are those who fail. Fail at giving up our doggies that is. We are ecstatic to announce that Star has officially been adopted by his foster turned forever family!

Star was displaced from his former home due to domestic violence. Thankfully, both he and his former mom safely escaped. She decided it was best they part ways and reached out for help. And when we met with her to take Star I promised her we would ensure that he finds the best home. We definitely kept our promise.

With our whole hearts we thank Kathy who answered our emergency plea for a foster home for this most amazing soul. She opened her heart and home when he needed her most. And it was clear from the first moment they met that they had an incredibly special connection. Happy life sweet Star! ⭐️

ADOPTEDtillysadie.jpg

Tilly & Sadie

Two more little lives saved. We are ecstatic to announce that Tilly & Sadie have been adopted! Rescued off Craigslist these two precious piggies are now in an incredibly loving home with people who couldn't love them more. We are so grateful to this amazing family pictured here with their two tiniest members. Guinea pigs are extremely social animals and at all times need to be with a same sex bonded friend. In fact, owning one guinea pig is illegal in Switzerland because they can actually die of loneliness. Needless to say, the US is not as evolved when it comes to animal welfare laws so we must always do our part and rescue responsibly. We are confident Tilly & Sadie will have the best life has to offer thanks to their new family. Happy lives little piggies, we love you!

ADOPTEDAbigailMaryBeth.jpg

Abigail & Mary-Beth

Abigail & Mary-Beth have been adopted. This young rescuer wanted to rescue guinea pigs, not buy them. Already, knowing how important it is to adopt not shop. We couldn’t be more pleased that these two precious piggies, who are extremely bonded, have such a loving and responsible family now. The superstar family also have a rescued pit bull. And while their pittie and piggies will be kept separated this just further shows how compassionate and loving they are. We rescued Abigail and Mary-Beth off of Craigslist and today we are thrilled to have helped them find their happily ever after.

ADOPTEDLuna.jpg

Luna

Luna has been adopted by one of our longtime rescue friends Jennifer, Matt and their loving family. We are ecstatic and we know she will have the most amazing life as part of their family. Here she is with her canine brothers Patches and Fritz.

Luna is one of the lucky ones. When we were first approached by the former owners for help with the puppies we told them that we would only take all of the babies as long as they agreed to let us spay the mom Bella and the father Thor, as they wanted to keep them. The people agreed.

We will never know what kind of lives those five dogs that they sold out from under us are living, but since their former owner was involved, we fear it can’t be good. What we do know is that Luna and her sisters were the lucky ones.

Thank you Jen for not only adopting Luna, but for opening your heart and home to initially foster her sister Nina too. Thank you for everything you do for the animals and to help us as well. We are so grateful.

SCreunited.JPEG

Chewie

Reunited! We are thrilled to report that we have reunited Chewie, the little dog we rescued a few weeks ago after he was hit by a car and suffered severe trauma in Inwood with his loving family. Chewie's real name is Scooby so we now lovingly refer to him as Scooby Chew. This little old man who stole our hearts was severely injured and suffered extensive eye trauma after escaping from his house and being hit by a car according to witnesses. While we were in the process of reuniting the family we ensured he received the best medical care which included an emergency hospital visit at Blue Pearl, full vetting with our loving friends at Vet Care Unlimited, and an ophthalmologist consult with Dr. Kim at LIVS. We have had the opportunity to spend time with Scooby Chew and his family both at their home and the different doctor appointments we have been meeting them at. At this time Scooby Chew's ophthalmologist is monitoring his eye and has him on eye drops, but Dr. Kim has informed us that the eye is non-functional and might need to be removed at some point. For now he is safe, healthy, happy, and back home with his family who couldn't love him more. We are so incredibly grateful to his biggest fans for helping ensure Scooby Chew received the best medical care possible. Thank you to everyone who supports our rescue efforts. We couldn't do it without you.

ADOPTEDriis.jpg

Riis

We rescued Riis from a deplorable and dangerous situation in Richmond Hill. Shockingly, the people who surrendered him to us purchased Riis from a breeder through a nearby puppy store. Then they became annoyed and agitated when the puppy pooped in the house. To say the people who had him and the “rules” they had for the dog were bizarre, is simply an understatement. And when we finally had him safely out of the house and in the car the former owner insisted that we take his “luggage”, which consisted of a plastic bag with wet wee wee pads in it. Needless to say, all this is in the past now and we are so thankful that we could help him find his happily ever after. Riis now has an incredible family who couldn’t love him more. Happy life sweet Riis.
